Very easy to propagate by removing...Read More offshoots, opening a hole with a garden knife or trowel, sticking in the rhizome and tamping. Purchase one or two and you'll soon have enough to spread around as needed. I use them in new beds to keep down weeds, and they are great as a low uniform edging. Blooms are a magenta pink in late spring, plentiful but with little to no rebloom. They prefer moist soil in part-shade but can survive even hot afternoon sun (crisping up a bit but recovering as weather cools). Not as refined as some hardy geraniums but rugged and useful.

I have two of these plants, growing in very different areas.
One is in an east-facing garden, which gets lots of direct sun unti...Read Morel about 1:00pm.....the leaves wilt a bit by that time but rebound once the sun has passed for the day.
The other is in a garden with lots of shade, located on the north side of a wooden fence (gets about 30-60 mins of sun in the morning when the sun is shining in from east).
They both grow very well, almost too well...like monsters! There are no issues with them, except they don't bloom much. I've had them for years and they have never bloomed much. There are about a dozen blooms that get above the leaves, and about the same amount that bloom below the leaves. When I look at pictures of this plant, there are dozens of blooms all above the leaves. What should I do to help the plants bloom more?
All of the other plants in my gardens have no problems with abundant blooms.

I have it planted on the north side of the house, in deep shade, quite dry in the summer...Read More. It's lush, bright green, lovely ground cover - and evergreen in this spot - amazing for Colorado.

I have more growing against a southwest-facing concrete wall. It blooms best here, though by the end of summer, the leaves are crispy on the edges. It recovers and looks great through fall and vanishes in winter.

I have some also beneath aspen trees in dappled sun and quite dry. They bloom pretty well and the bright-green, fuzzy foliage looks fresh all season.

Try planting "Tiny Monster" behind macrorrhizum. The leaves contrast so well!

Lovely plant habit and flowers in spring.

I had difficulty getting just the right situation - with not enough sun it bloom...Read Mores much less, and with too much - esp afternoon - the leaves wilt every day. I now have it where it gets morning sun and filtered afternoon sun - perfect!
