Unfortunately, about half of them got blown over by the wind. Those that blew over but remained rooted still kept growing - the tips simply turned upward. I would recommend staking these unless in a sheltered location.

Apparently the natural food and their blending into the scenery make the birds very prone to finding sunflowers as a food source. The Goldfinches must be the main source of spreading the seeds. This spring we have 10 times as many sunflower sprouts coming up in our garden and a even in the gravel driveway on the outer side of the fence. I'm going to have to tell the neighbors to come and get some for themselves.

This is not a particular plant but a blend of Hybrid sunflowers in fall colours. They do ok as a cut flower and are pollenless. The stems are not as strong as other sunflowers so this one might need to be staked in windy conditions. All in all not a bad blend of hybrid sunflowers.
