The bell-shaped flowers are white to maroon, with veins of color that are most beautiful on close inspection. 'Showy Lantern' is bright red and reads well from a distance. Flowers well in woodland conditions. Fall color is variable, but can be superb. Leaves color best in full sun.
This shrub has an elegant branching structure that's easily ruined by unskillful pruning. Relatively slow growing.
