Philodendron Species

"This Philodendron squamiferum is still a juve...Read Morenile and you can tell from the hairs on stems which are still pale green. When mature, the stems will turn red and be covered with soft, fuzzy red hairs. This rare species from tropical rain forests in South America also has distinctively-shaped leaves with five lobes. The attractive foliage is glossy and grows from 12 to 18 inches long. A favorite of Philodendron collectors, it seems very easy to grow - so far for me. The plant lives as an epiphyte in the wild, growing high up into trees. You can tie it to a totem post, trellis, or other support. The leaves of young plants are shaped somewhat like a violin, and eventually form large, distinct lobes as the plant matures. The bristly stem of each leaf is almost as long as the leaf itself."
