Where I live the s...Read Moreoil drains like it is gravel and the plants seems quite happy. They are not on any kind of irrigation and the plants can do just fine without being watered for a couple of weeks. They can handle more sun if introduced gradually. I've seen them growing in places with no sun at all and also with no shade. In order to bloom my plants want regular water and fertilizer. I would suggest growing them in some sort of elevated location since the blooms droop and can be difficult to see and appreciate when the plant is grown down at the level of one's feet.

The flowers hang like Christmas decorations from the branches on long, crimson stalks. The flowers themselves are crimson with little brilliant bright blue flower petals here and there, accented with bright yellow.... amazing.
