I saw this bird in the yard one day, and three bird books, a lot of time with the bi-noculars and some head scratching later the bird gave it's distinctive call. WOW! I hope this one found a mate and decided to set up camp. I hope to see more of them in the following years.

I couldn't tell you what this bird looks like, but its song is one of the most beautiful of all birdsongs. I live adjacent to a chunk of wooded open space - mostly beech and oak and other hardwoods. In the evening at around dusk one can hear the veery's flute-like, descending song coming from somewhere off in the woods.
