The only smaller bird I see in my neighborhood is a rufous hummingbird. The bushtits come in flocks of six to ten, and like sitting in the rose arbor when they're not clustered around the suet feeder.

I have a pair of these sweet birds nesting in my trumpet vine arch by my patio. What an amazing nest for such a little bird!

A small group of these birds came to the feeder in late Jan. I thought them kinglets but they have a longer tail. They were not interested in seeds but in the suet. A couple days latter I saw them again.
