We have at least one of these birds regularly visiting our yard in Mojave California. It seems to like the Creosote bushes, close to the ground, which it 'thrashes' quite vigorously.

When I see these, it is almost always in the wild, but I did see one in the yard once taking a bath in the dewy grass. The bird has a pleasant song.
