This is a very large Gull, which can be found in European and North American coasts and islands of the North Atlantic. Some move further south to large inland lakes or reservoirs.

This is the largest Gull, with a wingspan of 1.4–1.7 m (4 ft 7 in – 5 ft 7 in) and length 61–74 cm (24–28 in). The back is black, legs pinkish and beak is yellow with a red spot which can just be seen in my second pic.

They take longer to mature than other gulls, at least 4 years. They are carnivorous and will scavenge for food, eating anything smaller than themselves, hunting more like a raptor.
