This moth was found outside my front door step upon my irises sleeping. It did not move even with me poking about with the camera. Not a usual moth to see in Maine.

One of the giant silkworm moths, and once thought to be a source of domestic silk production, but since there is no source of very cheap labor here in the US to unwind the cocoons, this industry never actually was viable.
Although the caterpillar eats the leaves of several trees, it is not numerous enough to be a pest or a threat.
The male moth, which is what I think I have an image of, is more of a walnut brown color, the female having a brighter, reddish look and the markings are more intense.
The males will fly from late afternoon into the night, while the females fly only at night.
