Sometimes confused with moths, Skippers are an ancient form of butterfly.

The Broad-winged Skipper likes tall grasses and wetlands. The adults feed on nectar and the caterpillars eat grass and weeds.

They have a habit of resting with their hind wings horizontal and their fore wings held at an angle, making them look like tiny little fighter jets.
