The Broad-striped Forceptail, though found in coastal Texas to Mississippi, is uncommon. It is common in eastern Mexico to Guatemala. Making photography difficult, they are wary. Size - length averages 2.5 inches.
By there very nature, dragonflies are beneficial. Especially along the Texas coast where mosquitos are a major pest. The only downside is that certain groups of dragonflies, such as Skimmers and related Pondhawks, will eat anything they are big enough to catch and hold, such as butterflies and each other.
