I have no idea how to key out an amphipod, so I'm not sure if we have this sp. here, but I do see many of this sort in moist areas when I move a rock or a pot. I think of amphipods as sea-creatures, so it's always a nice surprise to see them hopping about on land. Unknown if they are causing any plant damage...

I found two of these in the soil of a freshly potted up lily bulb, the potting soil being made from coconut peat, that must obviously have been imported.
I've heard that 2 types have been imported (probably accidentally) into European countries from Australia: Arcitalitrus sylvaticus and Arcitalitrus dorrieni.
The size of mine were about 3-4mm, probably very young ones..
