I have never seen this moth in enough numbers for me to be concerned about the caterpillar damage. Its common name, Blessing Moth refers to the cross on the backs of its wings. Many people consider seeing one is a spiritual gift and consider it a blessing, hence the name.

I have not seen the adult moth, but I have had several of the larva feasting on my snapdragons. They almost striped them before I noticed them. Today, they were on my coneflowers with lots of good sized holes on the leaves. The larva is about 1 1/4" long. It is black, "hairy" and has an orange stripe on its sides.
I took a picture, but my camera would not get a close up.
