Besides being wonderful pest control agents, they are among the cutest of all the spiders. Their faces look like fuzzy bears.

These spiders are native to the United States and their range spreads as far east as Nebraska. This spider does not build a web to catch prey, but rather it will pounce on a potential meal.

Some of these spiders can for two years. Their preferred wintering spots are under loose tree bark, but today I noticed a Jumping spider trying to hide under some cracked paint on the siding of our house.
