On a September 2007 photo-vacation to Roswell, N.M., the Variegated Meadowhawk was the most frequently seen of all the regions dragonflies. It was near ponds, on the golf course and at the nearby Bitter Lakes NWR.
It is a little shy about being approached but is well within the reach of a modest zoom digital camera.
