A very nice butterfly! Just like TexasPuddyPrint said. One host plant for the Malachite is Runyun's Water Willow. There are many Malachite at the N.A.B.A. (International) Butterfly Park in Mission, Texas. That park has many rare butterflies!

A gorgeous butterfly! That lime green and chocolate brown coloring are unforgetable! I see one or two at a time and they stay mostly in wooded/shaded areas but they do come to fruit stations. They often perch up high and seem to check out the area in between feedings. There was a canoe trip one year during the local butterfly festival that yielded about two dozen sightings.
