Caprimulgiformes
Whip-poor-will
Caprimulgiformes are an order of birds that are thought to be the evolutionary bridge between owls and swifts. Found worldwide, Caprimulgiformes are rarely seen during the daytime. They are clothed in excellent camouflage feathers and are experts at hiding. Caprimulgiformes feed at night on nocturnal insects and roost mostly in ground nests by day. Nightjars, frogmouths, and similar birds are all part of the order of caprimulgiformes.
