It seems to be the most northerly species and perhaps that's why it seems to do well in Cornwall. It's unaffected by the wet summers here, perhaps because the summers are rather cool (like winter in California!). That could be why it seems to grow quite fast -- even in the summer, when they don't usually grow.
It's a very rugged looking plant with very woody stems and forms huge silvery mats -- I'm really impressed! It may well be the only Echeveria lookalike you can grow successfully in the UK as a perennial.
