The leaves are generally recurved, more than most Encephalartos, making this a particularly ornamental species. The leaflets are perfectly spaced along the leaf and each leaflet ends in a subtle curve and smooth tip. Very old plants develop a stem, and some, if injured, develop multiple branches. Like all cycads, there is a male and a female plant. from South Africa.
