Bulb Capital of the World.Photos taken three days ago at Charlies Hoek which is part of the SANBI GARDEN at Nieuwoudtville. One is Hesperantha vaginata(Harlekynaandblom of Perdeblom) and the other is Bulbinella Latifolia var.doleritica (Rooikatstert of Rooidirk).This collage is devoted to two bulbs endemic to the Bokkeveld plato around Nieuwoudtville. They grow up against the dolerite hills in redish dolerite soil.The bulbs were in pristine condition when the photos were taken and they still will be.Please refer to my previous posting about Charlies Hoek.
A drive to Charlies Hoek in my opinion is one of the best things that you can do anywhere during our flower season.A visit must be arranged with Eugene Marinus the curator of the SANBI GARDEN 0762342902 or0272181200.
