Was identified in the insect ID forum of this website. Found it in a dying rose. Typically lives in decaying oaks, southern cypresses and sycamores. Do not know how it landed on my rose as I have no decaying trees nearby. This insect is commonly known as metallic wood borer because of the showy metallic-like markings on its shell. Also, don't know whether it spreads.
