Widespread throughout the eastern half of North America, this is one of the few moths that its caterpillars disguise themselves with bits of leaves and flower petals.

The caterpillars feed on many different plants, including composite flowers, shrubs and trees.

The small mint green moth is attractive and neither it or the caterpillar are present in enough numbers to be a real pest to gardeners or farmers.
