The Bronze Aussie Jumper is a species of jumping spider from east Australia, first seen in New Zealand in 1972, now common in the North Island. They hunt by jumping on small insects. They need good eye sight to do this, hence the very large front pair of eyes, and they move their heads.
The males are larger than the females - unusual in the world of spiders. The male protects the nest while the female is inside the nest. Female spiders are 8mm long. Males are 10mm in length, their legs are much longer than the females, and they have a white ring on them.
