Ephemeroptera
Mayflies
This family is part of an insect group called Palaeoptera which includes dragonflies and damselflies. Mayflies undergo a molt after growing from one to two sets of wings, which transforms them into their adult form. The lifecycle of Mayflies is very short; some females live for only five minutes or less after birth. The nymphs often synchronize their maturation to reduce the risk of being eaten before reproduction.
