THis is how these trees look in Southern California... they get about 30\\\' tall at the tallest, but most get frosted often enough that they stay shorter. This is mid summer and blooms haveing occured yet... another month

This young tree blooms beatifully (as opposed to the "real" tulip tree (Liriodendron) which needs more patience :-)

African Tulip Trees (Spathodea campanulata) are so numerous parts of Maui (rainforest regions especially) that from the air, when blooming, they mix in a red tinge to all of the green as seen here.
