Deborah “Debnes” Magnes is a third generation Texan whose curiosity about everything living. Having a passion for plants for over 20 years, she has worked to develop her expertise in horticulture and entomology. She has published several articles on various plant and wildlife subjects, and is a noted speaker on the subject of butterfly gardening. She has enjoyed speaking to many local garden clubs, women’s clubs, schools, and library venues where her love and enthusiasm for growing things spark a revival to the heart of young and old. Professionally speaking, Debnes has been a Locksmith for 35 years, and now works at Lewisville ISD. She is the West Zone Facilities Locksmith, maintaining every door, lock and key of every sort in over 25 campuses. LISD covers over 140 square miles in and near Denton County Texas. She is the only woman in a force of over 130 men.
