The blooms remind me of spinwheels. They are accented with darker colored lines radiating from the center. Shown in the middle of March. (San Antonio, Tx.)

Used in rock gardens and in borders as well as containers where it flows down the sides, Phlox subulata announces, or should I say shouts out, that spring has arrived in a very showy manner. Shown in the middle of March. (San Antonio, Tx.)

The blooms cover the plant so thickly that the foliage is hard to find if it is growing in the proper environment. If it does not receive enough sun, the blooms are more sparse. Shown in the middle of March. (San Antonio, Tx.)
