I started gardening in the Spring of 2002 and fell in love with it immediately. My seed collection grew quickly and so did my number of friends! When I want to relax, I go to my garden. In my last home, I had successfully transformed a rectangular, lifeless, boring plot of land that was once a dog run into a charming, life-filled place of joy and wonder. I loved my garden, and I get sad when I think about all that I had to leave there. We live on 5+ acres in south Texas and I just LOVE it! His mother lived with us and loved to garden too. Together we are transforming this beautiful wooded acreage into a lush garden retreat for all of us. She had a stroke in 2008 and now lives in a nursing home in South Louisiana near her daughter. It's a constant struggle here to maintain a healthy yard and garden. I now realize just how lucky I was just a zone & a half north. The heat and sun here are so intense, being closer to the equator, that once it gets HOT here, things just BAKE in the sun. Always looking for better ways, stronger plants, and MORE SHADE!!
