The pattern at the top of the abdomen is a little less orangey than E. tenax.

It looks like a large bee.

The hairs on the thorax are more reddish brown than E. tenax.

Taken on 4th August 2006 on Lilium Casablanca. E. pertinax has bicoloured tibiae on the hind legs.
